 449th Theater Aviation Brigade (TAB)

449_Aviation_Brigade_FC_28_May_2009_(2).pngThe 449th Theater Aviation Brigade, North Carolina Army National Guard, was formed in 1986 as an Aviation group. Our headquarters is located in Kinston, North Carolina. After briefly being associated to the 18th Airborne Corps, The 449th Aviation Group was organized under the 11th Aviation Regiment in Illesheim, Germany. The 44th provided command and control of lift and assault assets for the 11th under 5th Corps. As a result of Army Aviation Transformation, the 449th became a Theater Aviation Brigade Headquarters in September of 2005 providing command and control of assault assets for the 66th Theater Aviation Command. The Brigade has approximately 3,800 Soldiers and just over 130 Aircrafts in its numbers providing command and control for the AH-64D Longbow, UH-60L Blackhawk Assault Helicopter, and UH-72 Lakota.
